The need for centralized management and monitoring Centralized management and control are essential for Data Centers and other applications such as High Performance Clusters. Managers want to minimize the time and effort required to setup, configure, and operate large installations. Problems need to be identified before they create downtime and impact tasks that have long execution times. The In-Reach Console servers solutions allow the managing of any device, servers, or other network element with a serial port, to be extended back to one centralized location or Operations Center, where administrators can remotely monitor, manage and control these remote network elements as if they were local MRV Terminal Servers / Console Services Products Maxserver, LX-1000, LX-4000, LX-8000, IR-8000
Console servers Console servers have been developed to provide a way for users to access many serial devices from one centralized location. The console servers terminate all the serial connections from each of the nodes in the cluster, and provide Console-servers access to each cluster node. Console servers include a network connection through which the users can connect to remote servers and also to a node for communication through a telnet or SSH connection. Typical Console Server Application Secure Console servers and FIPS Console servers The In-Reach LX Console Servers provide ironclad secure access to system, server and network device serial consoles, enabling real-time visibility of remote system devices, and network health. MRV's In-Reach LX Console Servers support FIPS140-2 security standard. The operation of the In-Reach LX Console Servers is visibly impacted by supporting FIPS140-2. Less secure features, protocols, and encryption support are disabled, while higher encryption options are set. AES encryption is used for all FIPS secure Console Servers Graphical User Interface (GUI) connections and the LX Series Clustering-features. Console servers and remote Console access Remote Console access is the ability to access and control critical network devices remotely. MRV's secure console server family offers an internal V.90 modem port or GSM/GPRS cellular access port as options for remote access on its units. These offer practical and reliable solutions for an out-of-band connection, enabling system administrators to remotely manage the associated network elements. Remote Power, Alarm, and Sensor Management The In-Reach Console servers combine console aggregation, high-density alarm, sensor and remote power management functions all in one platform. Through secure serial device and console port access combined with alarm and remote power management over IP networks, these advanced Console servers provide complete visibility and control from virtually anywhere. Remote Power Management Application Remote Alarm Management, Remote Sensor Management Application MRV provides innovative Security Aware Console server solutions for carriers and data centers. MRV's Console server solutions comprise of Console servers, secure FIPS consoles, and remote console access. Unlike any other general terminal server or console server solutions, In-Reach Console servers are optimized to provide a secure and converged Out-of-Band Networking solution, offering serial connectivity, secure console servers, alarm management, sensor and remote power management, all in a single box. MRV's In-Reach Console server offerings have a record of excellent performance with an outstanding customer support organization to stand behind its products.
